He was Chairman and CEO of Leo Burnett Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) for close to a decade before relocating to Singapore in 2009 to take up the helm as President for the agency-network in the Asia Pacific region. Since 2006, he has been a member of the Leo Burnett Worldwide Global Leadership Council.
Name an innovative idea or business solution for which you are most proud. Since taking on the role as President for Leo Burnett & Arc Asia Pacific, Jarek has introduced bold initiatives to drive the optimization and synergy of resources within the network, in an effort to achieve multi-dimensional growth. The impact of Jarek’s vision and leadership accomplished double digit growth in 2010 and 2011, representing the highest rate of growth in the last decade. Every Leo Burnett office in the region consistently reported increased profitability. For two years in a row, Leo Burnett has been the fastest growing and most awarded agency-network in the region; it also ranks among the top three new business leaders in the region in 2010 and 2011, according to R3.
Why do people see you as an innovator? A true believer in the power of creativity, Jarek spearheaded an unconventional approach to driving and inspiring creativity with the launch of Internal Product Committee (IPC) for the network in Asia Pacific in 2010. In place of a regional executive creative director (ECD), four senior ECDs were assigned additional geographical responsibilities. IPC taps into the collective talents of the network to drive the quality of its creative output and reaches out to more employees who may not be directly involved in the creative product – enhancing creative education and culture.
Leo Burnett & Arc’s creativity has strengthened under Jarek’s watch. Over the past two years, the network has collectively clocked a remarkable set of results across leading international and regional award shows including Cannes Lions, Spikes Asia and AdFest. This year, the Gunn Report announced that Leo Burnett is the Creative Agency Network of the Year in Asia Pacific for 2011. Leo Burnett is also the most awarded network from Asia Pacific at this year’s International ANDY Awards.
Jarek Ziebinski string of successes in Asia is not new; he demonstrated that same excitement in his native region of Central & Eastern Europe. During his tenure as the Chairman and CEO of Leo Burnett CEE, he expanded the geographical footprint of the agency from 11 to 16 countries, employing a total of 1,400 employees. Under his leadership, Leo Burnett agencies in Central & Eastern Europe were named an Agency of the Year 42 times in their respective countries, garnering a total of 13 Cannes Lions and 1,451 other creative awards.
From 2006 to 2009, he doubled the size of Leo Burnett Group operations in Russia, one of the top ten markets for Leo Burnett Worldwide.
Jarek was CEO of Leo Burnett Poland from 1996 to 2001. During this period, the agency saw rapid growth and development including 500% revenue increase and growth from 40 to over 200 employees. Leo Burnett Warsaw was ranked among the world’s most-awarded agencies in the 2001 Gunn Report, marking the first time a Polish agency has ever been included among the top 50 in the world.
Jarek also contributed significantly to the development of advertising industry in Central and Eastern Europe. He was founder and the first president of the Polish Advertising Agencies Association (SAR), founder of the Polish Creative Directors Club (KTR), as well as founder and President of the Jury of Polish EFFIE Awards. In 2010, in recognition of his outstanding personal contribution to the creative advertising in New Europe, Jarek was inducted into the inaugural Golden Drum New European Hall of Fame.
Jarek’s successes as a manager and a personality in the advertising industry have earned him multiple awards. He was named “Man of the Year” in the advertising industry and also “Ad Man of the Decade in Poland” by Poland’s leading marketing magazines.
